ROQ AI Inc.

ROQ AI Inc. was founded by Shahriar Shahbazian in December 2021 and was formally incorporated in the Province of Alberta on April 19, 2022. Since its inception, the company has been dedicated to developing innovative technologies, for advancing petrophysical interpretation.

 

Software Development

Since its founding, ROQ AI Inc. has been actively engaged in series of software development processes, focused on building a robust and forward-looking petrophysical platform. Key activities have included:
 
  • Foundational Research and Algorithm Development
Conducting extensive research to identify, validate, and formalise the related equations, algorithms, and methodologies required to support advanced petrophysical analysis and interpretation.
 
  • User Interface Design and Workflow Architecture
Designing intuitive and scalable user interfaces, with continuous refinement to align with evolving technical requirements and user experience considerations.
 
  • Working with Software Developers
Engaging with multiple software development firms across Canada to advance the platform. To date, ROQ AI has collaborated with four development teams:  Calibre Consulting, Launchcode, CodexAI, and Promythicus, gaining valuable insights and progressively refining both the technical approach and development strategy.
 
  • Current Development Phase
ROQ AI is currently working with Promythicus Company, focusing on the ongoing development of the CILA software platform. This phase emphasises building a stable, scalable architecture while advancing the core functionalities of the system.
 
 
 
Through this multi-phase development journey, ROQ AI continues to strengthen its technical foundation while progressing toward a fully integrated, cloud-based petrophysical solution.

Hardware Development

In parallel with developing the petrophysical software, ROQ AI has been actively advancing the research and conceptual design of an integrated hardware system aimed at transforming the way drilled cuttings are sampled, processed, and analysed.

The envisioned system combines automated sampling technologies with multi-modal analytical capabilities, enabling the consistent, efficient, and high-quality handling of drill cuttings directly at the wellsite. By reducing reliance on manual processes, the hardware is designed to improve data reliability and operational efficiency.

This integrated solution supports a range of analytical techniques within a single platform, allowing for the simultaneous acquisition of complementary geological and compositional data. The objective is to provide a more comprehensive and real-time understanding of subsurface conditions, enhancing the overall quality of reservoir characterisation.

A key feature of the hardware development strategy is its seamless integration with ROQ AI’s cloud-based software platform. Data generated by the system is automatically transferred and synchronised with the digital environment, enabling continuous processing, interpretation, and visualisation. This tight hardware–software integration ensures that insights derived from physical samples are rapidly incorporated into advanced petrophysical workflows.

Through this approach, ROQ AI aims to deliver a unified, end-to-end solution that bridges physical sample acquisition and digital analysis,  ultimately supporting faster, more accurate, and data-driven decision-making in subsurface evaluation.
